Senior Quality Assurance (QA) Automation Engineer

A bit about the role…

As a QA Automation Engineer at Solink, you will be at the forefront of automating our manual testing processes and creating a robust framework that ensures the highest quality of our software solutions. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, creativity, and a keen eye for detail, as you will be instrumental in developing and maintaining automation scripts and tests for frontend and backend applications. Your work will significantly reduce manual testing efforts, increase efficiency, and expedite our release cycles, making a substantial impact on our product's success.

WHO YOU ARE:

  • You have 5+ years of experience in QA automation, with a proven track record of developing automated tests from scratch.

  • You have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

  • You have experience with evaluating and maintaining a scalable automation framework and integration into CI/CD pipelines.

  • You demonstrate a strong sense of ownership and are committed to managing projects.

  • You have demonstrated strong proficiency writing automation test scripts using Python and Playwright.

  • You have familiarity with Pytest as an automation frameworks.

  • You are proficient with Git and version control best practices.

  • You have familiarity with the Linux environment.

  • You have foundational understanding of how AWS services support SaaS applications for IoT environments.

  • You have experience with a wide variety of testing methodologies in the frontend (e.g. mobile and web applications) and backend (e.g. cloud and API).

  • Experience with performance testing tools and methodologies to ensure the robustness and scalability of applications.

  • You have in-depth knowledge of test management software.

  • You have an excellent command of the English language, both written and verbal.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues and provide effective solutions.

  • You have a passion for technical challenges, a drive for success, and the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.

SECURITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Candidates must undergo a criminal records check upon hire;

  • Be a Canadian Citizen (dual citizens included), or eligible to work in Canada;

  • Be willing to comply with Solink’s own security policies and standards.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

  • You will evaluate and maintain automation frameworks, ensuring seamless execution, robust reporting, and CI/CD pipeline integration.

  • You will design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts using Python, Playwright, and/or JavaScript.

  • You will collaborate with the QA team to review and understand test cases, identifying opportunities for automation.

  • You will initiate and document the automation strategy from scratch, creating and implementing new automated tests for both frontend and backend applications (web, mobile, cloud, API).

  • You will manage and report on test execution using test management software.

  • You will analyze the efficiency of automation testing, including time savings, number of bugs caught, and the adaptability of code.

  • You will work under tight deadlines and effectively juggle multiple requests from different teams.

  • You will identify, track and record bugs found.

  • You will act as a mentor for automation testing as the team grows.

  • You will demonstrate a significant impact by improving the turnaround time for releases through efficient and effective automation strategies.
