R&D Co-Op (QA)

A bit about the role…

As a Junior QA Automation Engineer Student at Solink, you will work closely with our QA and development teams to build and improve automated testing solutions that ensure the highest quality of our products. This Co-Op term offers hands-on experience in supporting designing, developing, and maintaining automated test scripts, while providing valuable insights into real-world software development and quality assurance in an agile environment.

WHO YOU ARE

• You are currently enrolled in a Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field, seeking a co-op opportunity.

• You have an understanding of QA processes, test methodologies, and software development lifecycles.

• You have experience or coursework in automation tools and scripting languages (e.g., Python, JavaScript).

• You are familiar with automated testing frameworks such as Selenium, Cypress, or Playwright.

• You have basic knowledge of CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI).

• You demonstrate strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and a passion for quality.

• You have excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.

• You demonstrate a sense of ownership and are committed to supporting projects.

• You have familiarity with Git and version control best practices.

• You have familiarity with the Linux environment.

• You have a foundational understanding of how AWS services support SaaS applications for IoT environments.

• You have familiarity with performance testing tools and methodologies to ensure the robustness and scalability of applications.

• You have an excellent command of the English language, both written and verbal.

• You have analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues and provide effective solutions.

• You have a passion for technical challenges, a drive for success, and the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.

Nice to haves…

• You have familiarity writing automation test scripts using Python and Playwright.

• You have familiarity with Pytest as an automation framework.

SECURITY REQUIREMENTS:

• Candidates must undergo a criminal records check upon hire;

• Be a Canadian Citizen (dual citizens included), or eligible to work in Canada;

• Be willing to comply with Solink’s own security policies and standards.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

• You will collaborate with QA and development teams to identify automation needs, design test scenarios, and create automated scripts.

• You will develop, execute, and maintain automated test scripts for web and mobile applications.

• You are assisting in performing exploratory, functional, and regression testing on various products.

• You will analyze and report test results, identify bugs, and work closely with developers to troubleshoot issues.

• You are documenting testing processes, test cases, and workflows in collaboration with the QA team.

• You will participate in code reviews and provide feedback on testability, efficiency, and maintainability of test scripts.

• You are supporting continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) practices by integrating automated tests into pipelines.
